And it’s my turn to be – The Next Big Thing

Fellow author and the all around cool Christine Pope tagged me for “The Next Big Thing.” Her latest All Fall Down and Dragon Rose, can be found on Amazon, and she is working on the sequel to her paranormal romantic suspense novel, Bad Vibrations.

This is how it works: everyone on the blog tour answers the same questions, and then they “tag” five more writers to keep the tour going. Here are my answers to those questions.

What is the working title of your current/next book? Annie’s Song.

Where did the idea come from? This is book 4 of my series, The Claire Wiche Chronicles.

What genre does your book fall under? I label them paranormal suspense – there are supernatural elements, and loads of action.

What actors would you choose to play the part of your characters in a movie rendition? I never thought about this – hmmmm. I’m sure my readers can shout out names without pause, but I have specific pictures in my head of these characters, and it’s hard for me to lay another face over them.

What is the one-sentence synopsis of your book? When Claire’s best friend Annie disappears outside a village in Ireland, Claire travels from California to help find her, along with her son Zach, who is discovering his own powers since he became mortal – and is starting to remember what he was.

Will your book be self-published or represented by an agency? Self-published. I love having control over everything – including what I write about.

How long did it take you to write the first draft? It’s still a work in progress. I write fast, so it will take 3-5 weeks from beginning to what I throw at my beta readers.

What other books would you compare this story to within your genre? That’s a tough one – I didn’t want these books to be like others in the genre. I created a paranormal main character, and wrapped mystery, suspense and action around her. It has been such a blast creating this world, and I am thrilled that other people find it a fun one to explore.

Who or what inspired you to write this book? My lifelong love of the supernatural, and the fact that Claire just popped into my head while I was working on something else. She wouldn’t let go until I told her story, and 3+ books later, here I am.

What else about the book might pique the reader’s interest? There is so much going on with the characters after the developments in book 3 – many loose threads I left dangling. I am going to tie some of those up, fray a few more, and pull people who have followed the series into another facet of Claire’s life. I can’t wait to find out how it all turns out. And there you have it – a few fun facts about my next Claire Wiche book. It will be coming your way sometime in February, so watch for other teasers in the next weeks – including a sneak peek of the cover!

Thanks for hanging out with me. Until next time, have a Happy New Year, and read on.

cheers,

~Cate
